Ingredients:
-
For the Marinade:
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick
-
For the Meat:
- 1.5–2 pounds of London Broil (top round steak or flank steak)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Marinade:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, red wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, garlic, mustard, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
-
Marinate the Steak:
- Place the London Broil in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
- Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it’s well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap.
- Marinate in the refrigerator for 4-12 hours (overnight is best for maximum flavor). Flip the steak halfway through marinating.
-
Cook the Steak:
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and switch the broiler on high.
- Remove the steak from the marinade, letting excess marinade drip off. Pat the steak dry with paper towels to encourage browning.
- Heat a large oven-safe skillet (like cast iron) over medium-high heat. Add a bit of oil and sear the steak for 2 minutes per side until browned.
-
Broil:
- Transfer the skillet to the oven and broil for 4-6 minutes per side, depending on your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature:
- Rare: 125°F (52°C)
- Medium Rare: 135°F (57°C)
- Medium: 145°F (63°C)
- Transfer the skillet to the oven and broil for 4-6 minutes per side, depending on your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature:
-
Rest and Slice:
- Remove the steak from the oven, tent it loosely with foil, and let it rest for 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
- Slice the steak thinly against the grain for tender bites.
-
Serve:
- Serve with your favorite side dishes like roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad. Enjoy!
